GX_LS161 Springfield, IL Fri Feb 13, 2004 USDA-IL Dept Ag Market News Eastern Cornbelt Direct Feeder Cattle Summary Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio Feeder steer prices were 1.00-2.00 lower. Feedder heifers were sharply lower in a limited market test. Demand was light and trading activity was slow. Lower slaughter cattle prices and weaker futures values continued to pressure the feeder market. Inclement weather hindered trading in some parts of the region at the beginning of the week. Confirmed sales about 64% beef type steers, 36% heifers and 0% Holstein steers. Approximately 100% of the cattle marketed this week weighed over 600 lbs. Confirmed sales 525 this week, 325 last week and 550 last year. Feeder steers: Medium and Large Frame 1-2: 700-875 lbs 87.00-91.00. Holstein steers: Medium and Large Frame 3: no test. Feeder Heifers: Medium and Large Frame 1-2: 650-875 lbs 80.00-83.50. Prices are based FOB the farm unless otherwise indicated. Delivered prices include freight, commissions, and other expenses.
